# MCP

> Use Entendre from your AI client.

Connect your AI client to Entendre with the Model Context Protocol (MCP). The client can then review transactions, prepare reports and do accounting work in Entendre.

## Connect

Add this server URL in the MCP or connector settings of your client:

    Use this method if your client supports OAuth.

    1. Add the server URL.
    2. Sign in to Entendre.
    3. Choose an organization and approve access.

    Each connection uses one organization. To work with another organization, add another connection.

    Use this method if your client supports custom headers.

    1. Create a key in **Settings → API** in Entendre.
    2. Add the server URL.
    3. Save this header in the secure credential settings of your client:

    ```

      Create the key in **Firm Settings → API**. Choose **Specific clients** and select one client. That client is the
      default client of the key. Use one key and one connection for each client. A key without a default client can use firm
      operations only.

## Tools

| Tool             | Use                                                                |
| ---------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------ |
| `list_directory` | Find the available API operations.                                 |
| `read_file`      | Read the inputs and usage of an operation.                         |
| `execute_code`   | Run JavaScript that calls those operations to read or change data. |

Each request uses your Entendre permissions. Review each proposed change in your AI client before you approve it.
